Dive into the World of Empathy-driven Innovation and unleash the Power of Amazon Bedrock! Join our exclusive workshop on Generative AI for Human Rights, featuring the actual use case of Asylex!

The workshop will focus on generating personalized and compelling human rights appeals tailored to their unique circumstances. By developing an automatic drafting feature that generates appeal documents based on the information provided by the user. This feature should assist in creating well-structured and compelling appeals, streamlining the drafting process, and ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Sanjeev Pulapaka

Principal Solutions Architect at AWS

Sanjeev Pulapaka is a principal solutions architect in the US federal civilian team at Amazon Web Services (AWS). He works closely with customers in building and architecting mission-critical solutions.

Sanjeev has extensive experience in leading, architecting, and implementing high-impact technology solutions that address diverse business needs in multiple sectors, including commercial, federal, and state and local governments. He has an undergraduate degree in engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame.

Mia Mayer

Applied Scientist at AWS

Mia is an Applied Scientist and ML educator at AWS Machine Learning University, where she researches and teaches the explainability and fairness of Machine Learning systems.

Throughout her career, Mia established several university outreach programs, has acted as a guest lecturer, and led tutorials as well as chalk talks at large learning conferences. She recently released a publicly available course on responsible AI on YouTube, published at EMNLP '22 , KDD'23 as well as presenting at GHC'23 on topics related to fairness.

Review challenges

Get your team excited because you're about to work on the most pressing air pollution challenges.

You will have to make the final choice of challenges on the first day of the Hackathon when we will also reveal technical requirements.

Register your team members

One person must register the company and distribute registration links to other team members.

There is no limit to the number of participants as long as they're divided into teams min. 1 max. 6.

Come to hackathon

and make the best use of your tech skills. The event will be run on Discord and via online streams suitable for all major timezones.

During the hackathon, you can also take part in competitions and attend lectures.

The hackathon is open to all tech companies looking to use their talents to find a solution. Teams of up to 6 people will tackle complex challenges sourced by top regional nonprofits.

Air pollution is a silent killer affecting up to 99% of people worldwide. Toxic air leads to 6.7 million premature deaths a year (WHO), severely impacting Sub-saharan Africa and Southeast Asia.

HACKATHON CHALLENGES

We are partnering up with the world's leading nonprofits, experts in air pollution and the well-being of affected communities, to bring as hackathon challenges some of the most important issues needing technical solutions.

Challenge 1

Sensors Africa faces a critical challenge in maintaining a vast air quality sensor network spanning East-West and South Africa. They're seeking a tech solution to address data gaps during sensor downtime and predict missing information with machine learning, all while ensuring network security.

Challenge 4

Thailand Clean Air Network is on a mission to enhance air quality legislation. With a proposal in parliament and over 60,000 signatures, they're using tech to simplify complex legal language. Join the hackathon to develop personalized solutions that vividly illustrate the positive impacts of their bill, making it accessible and compelling for a diverse audience.

Help bridge the gap between legal jargon and people's lives, empowering them to understand and support crucial legislation for cleaner air in Thailand.

Bicara Udara aims to leverage Indonesia's 2024 elections to address air quality concerns. With a focus on engaging the significant 18-35 age group, comprising 56% of eligible voters, they seek a user-friendly tech solution that will inform about candidates' views on air pollution, fostering an informed electorate and driving positive change through the ballot box.

Revolutionize the fight against air pollution with the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA)! Join us in developing a game-changing model utilizing satellite data to estimate power plant emissions accurately.

Your task? Create a correlation between ground truth data and satellite estimation to transform how governments and industries tackle air pollution. Your innovation will shape smarter decisions for a cleaner, healthier future.
